1. Scope and key terms

This Privacy Policy applies when you use Yovela's mobile applications, websites, interactive stories, character and creator tools, support channels, and related services (together, the Services). Yovela, we, us, and our refer to the operator identified in the app-store listing or other service notice presented to you.

Personal information means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. It does not include information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it can no longer reasonably identify you.

2. Information you provide

The information we receive depends on the features you use.

  • Account and registration information, such as your sign-in identifier, display name, authentication provider, birthday or age information, preferred language, and account settings.
  • Profile and creator information, such as player identities, biography, preferences, characters, story descriptions, rules, prompts, greetings, images, and other material you create or upload.
  • Conversation and story information, including messages, choices, generated responses, story progress, relationships, inventory, memories, bookmarks, rewrites, and other continuity data.
  • Safety and support information, including reports, feedback, correspondence, screenshots, and information you choose to provide when asking for help.

3. Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we and providers acting for us may automatically receive limited operational information.

  • Device and network information, such as device type, operating system, app version, language, IP address, approximate region derived from network signals, and connection type.
  • Usage information, such as screens and features used, interaction timestamps, referral or campaign information, session events, and performance measurements.
  • Diagnostic, integrity, and safety information, such as crash records, request logs, moderation signals, suspected fraud, and attempts to interfere with the Services.
  • Website preferences stored on your device, such as your selected language. If we introduce non-essential cookies or similar technologies, we will provide any notice and choice required by law.

4. Purchases and device permissions

If you purchase Sparks or another digital item, the app store or payment channel sends us transaction and entitlement information such as the product, amount, currency, transaction identifier, purchase status, and refund status. Payment providers process your payment credentials; Yovela does not receive your full payment-card number.

If a feature asks for access to photos, camera, microphone, notifications, or another device capability, we use that access only after you grant permission and only to provide the feature, protect the Services, or handle content you choose to submit. You can revoke device permissions in your operating-system settings, although the related feature may stop working.

5. Where information comes from

We collect information directly from you, automatically from your device and use of the Services, and from partners that support sign-in, app distribution, payments, attribution, security, or customer support. If another user shares content involving you, we may receive that content from the other user. Third-party services process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

6. How and why we use information

We use personal information only for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Provide, personalize, and maintain accounts, stories, characters, story memory, purchases, and other requested features.
  • Generate AI responses and preserve the context, choices, and state needed for a coherent interactive story.
  • Authenticate users, verify entitlements, prevent duplicate or fraudulent transactions, and keep account and wallet records accurate.
  • Moderate content, investigate reports, enforce our Terms of Service, prevent abuse, and protect users, Yovela, and the public.
  • Diagnose failures, measure performance, develop features, and improve the quality, reliability, accessibility, and safety of the Services.
  • Respond to support requests and send transactional messages, security alerts, policy notices, and—where permitted—optional product communications.
  • Comply with legal duties, respond to valid legal process, resolve disputes, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

7. Legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract with you to provide requested features; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services; your consent for optional permissions or processing; and compliance with legal obligations. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the effect on your rights. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

8. AI and automated processing

Yovela uses automated systems to generate and adapt story content. Your prompts, choices, character settings, and the relevant portion of story context may be sent to contracted AI and safety providers to generate a response, maintain continuity, detect abuse, and apply safety controls.

AI output can be inaccurate, unexpected, or similar to output provided to others. Do not include financial credentials, government identifiers, medical records, precise location, or other highly sensitive information in prompts or character profiles. If Yovela uses story content for optional model improvement beyond providing and securing the Services, we will disclose that use and provide any choice required by law.

9. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose only the information reasonably necessary to the following recipients.

  • Infrastructure, hosting, storage, content-delivery, analytics, crash-reporting, security, moderation, AI, communications, and customer-support providers acting under contract.
  • App stores, payment processors, and fraud-prevention providers for purchase verification, refunds, accounting, and entitlement management.
  • Other users or the public when you intentionally publish a story, character, profile, comment, or other content, or share it through a link or invitation.
  • Professional advisers, auditors, insurers, affiliates, and a successor in a merger, financing, reorganization, acquisition, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements.
  • Courts, regulators, law enforcement, or other parties when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and service integrity.

10. Public content and third-party links

Content you mark public may be viewed, copied, or reshared by others outside Yovela. Removing public content limits future display through the Services but may not remove copies already made by others or lawful records retained by Yovela.

The Services may link to third-party websites, app stores, or sign-in services. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies, not this policy.

11. International transfers

Yovela and its providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual, technical, or organizational safeguards designed to protect transferred information.

12. Retention and deletion

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here. Account and active-story data is generally retained while the account or story remains active. Operational logs, generated artifacts, and cached copies may have shorter lifecycles. Purchase, tax, consent, safety, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-compliance records may be retained longer when required or reasonably necessary.

You can delete individual content where the feature provides a delete control and can request account deletion through Account Management in the app. Deletion removes or de-identifies associated personal information from active systems unless retention is required for security, fraud prevention, financial records, dispute resolution, or law. Residual copies may remain in protected backups until they are overwritten through the normal backup cycle. Some public content may be retained in de-identified form or where another user's lawful use requires it.

13. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; and appeal a denied request or complain to a data-protection authority. You may update available profile and preference fields in the app, revoke device permissions in system settings, and opt out of optional communications using the control provided with them.

Submit other requests through Yovela's in-app support channel. If you cannot access your account, use the support contact published on Yovela's website or app-store listing. We may verify your identity and authority before completing a request. We may deny or limit a request when permitted by law, including to protect another person's rights, security, or confidential information.

14. Children and teens

The Services are not directed to anyone below the minimum age stated in the applicable app-store listing or required by local law. A higher minimum age may apply in some locations. If we learn that we collected personal information from someone who cannot lawfully consent to the Services, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. Please report suspected underage use through Yovela's support or reporting tools.

15. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls, transport security, monitoring, and limited access based on operational need. No network, storage system, or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should notify support promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

16. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the Services, technology, or law changes. The date above shows the latest revision. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where required. Your continued use after the effective date is governed by the revised policy.

For privacy questions, requests, or complaints, contact Yovela through the in-app support channel or the current support contact published on Yovela's website or app-store listing. Please do not include passwords or highly sensitive story content in an initial request.
